How do I tell what refrigerant my 93 LSS uses? The manual says contact the dealer, since the car is 13 years old and I didn't buy it from them, they won't tell me without a 50 dollar diagnostic charge...

There is no such car as a 93 lss first of all.
Look under the hood....should tell you on a label.

Sorry...It's a 1993 Delta Eighty Eight Royale LSS according to the title...I thought people in the 88 forum would be able to figure it out.

No luck. The label says the refrigerant has a dye that can only be detected by ultra-violet light, but it doesn't say what kind.

See the LSS Package midway thru the production year in late 93, according to what I have read, most of them were sold as 94s but you may have true 93 LSS, quite a rare car lol.
Another Interesting thing is that GM switched from R12 to 134A in 1993....some have R134a some have R12
anyway.
if R134A it will have a sticker:

Another '93 LSS here, man! I never heard anything about it being rare.
Yup, R-12 is what it is. I converted to Freeze 12 since it's compatable with R-12, and R-12 is being phased out and really expensive now.

We should start a 93 LSS CLub !! You can be treasurer and I'll be President. Send your dues ASAP...LOL !! The problem is not the refrigerant. It's fully charged and no leaks. The problem is automatic climate control was programmed by nuisance trolls from the level 5 hell of the GM underbelly. Seriously. It's freaking possessed. It blows heat for no reason. Even when its off. It switches from vent to defrost by itself. Oh well, it's only hot for 3-4 months a year.
