sometimes my gt dies on me. sometimes i have trouble starting the thing. I think it might be an electrical problem. When it doesn't want to turn on, the ignition coil isn't providing any spark. If i disconnect the battery and plug it back in, it works. What can stop the ignition coil from sparking?? are there any relays that would do this??? Sometimes the car shuts off when it's running, sometimes when i shut it off it won't start. sometimes it just takes a while to 'cool down' and then it starts back up. Please help.

TFI module, it's the gray box mounted to a heat sink underneath the airbox. They're notorious enough for going out that if you go into a good parts store and ask for "one of those thingys that goes bad on newer Fords" they usually give you one of them...

and that would prevent the ignition coil from giving any spark??? does it heat up or why does it shut off on me, then later turn back on.???

I'd say TFI also. I had the same problem with my F-150. '90 5.0 / 5 spd. I would have to crank a while to get it to fire the quickly feather the gas to keep it running or else it would die. When It would finally start it would blow out a bunch of fuel smoke from the constant cranking. Then I would be going down the road and it would just cut completely off on me, sometimes I was able to save it. This went on for a couple months and just kept getting worse. Finally I replaced the TFI module. On a truck its on the side of the distributor (I guess thats the TFI/Ignition module). So yes if I where you I'd replace the TFI, they are cheap enough to try anyway.
