Safc Help!

Hey guys I just recently purchased an Safc II for my V6 Tib and I'm getting ready to install it. My only problem is that the nearest dyno wants to charge me $250 to tune it. So I was wondering if it would be possible for someone with similar mods to give me their settings, would that work? My current mods are basically I/H/E, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ok, um yeah.....Would one of you kindly give me a run down of what the hell that all means...in lamens terms please, lol. Nah, but seriously, if someone could kinda explain this or something it would be great. I am still learning, so more knowledge, the better I can get my car running. Thanx.

explain what exactly?...
SAFC/ SAFC-II is a fuel management "tool" it cant do every lil thing your engine needs to have done, but it can monitor and tune your air/ fuel ratio/ mixture... stuff like that

if you want some seriopus tuning, you want the REAL VIM G4 ecu tuner...
(ill make a post about all this info in a day or so... im still gathering stuff up)

the only thing safc2 does is intercept your MAF signal and minuplate it then send it to the ecu. you dont need it unless you have larger injectors.

And Nisco, if you can, would you throw in any sites or places to look for shit dealing with ECU's for the i4 Tibs. I know its not your forte, but I am having a bit of trouble finding too much stuff for the beta's. Thanx.

yeah i4?... RD or GK?

www.REAL-engineering.com is the ONLY place that tunes ECUs and such...
tho only GKs i believe

RD is what I need. I can find em for the GK's, but hard to find shit like ECU's for RD Tibs. If you have any luck, please share the knowledge. Thanx :)

rick at real is coming close to it. we also have a member on the rdtib forums that can partially hack into the stock ecu and fix things.

I believe some of the RD guys switched to a Siemens ECU, which proved much more accessible than the OEM Bosch unit.
As far as using your SAFC, you will need to either A) find a dyno B) get a wideband O2 sensor setup. Either way you NEED TO GET an Air/Fuel Ratio so you know where to add or take away fuel. I know that the GK's are known for being pig rich from the factory, and decent amounts of power have been found by simply leaning out the mixture. I am not that familiar with the RD's. Now my suggestion is, just get the car dyno'd, and don't allow them to tune it. Do it yourself. Once you have the AFR, you will be able to see any rises or drops in AFR, which would ideally be between 12:1 and 13:1. I know my car was at 10.5:1 which is too rich and causes low RPM bogging, and bad fuel economy. Now this was when I had a header, without one of my O2 sensors. As a side effect, my car would SUCK down low, but once I hit around 4800rpms it was surprisingly fast for an I4.

Well I think I will try to find one to replace/reprogram the stock, but hacking it does sound kinda fun. Any way you can hit me up with some more info?

Honestly Nisco, I am not sure, hence my asking. ;) But if you happen to come across where you saw it, that would be awsome. I know your not extremely familiar with the RD set up, but w/e you got will help.
