car is sputtering

i have a 96 eagle talon esi and after a while of idiling at a dead stop the car will start sputter not moving the rpms enough to notice.....ok after i go to take off from a dead stop and i floor it the car sputters for just a sec and then takes off...can anyone give me some ideas on where to look at so im not looking in the dark

99% of the time when a engine sputters in the low-end it's a simple ignition problem. Check your spark plugs and wires. If you haven't replaced them for a while, now is the time.

ok well the plugs are fairly new and the wires are fairly new....maybe this will help a lil, ok i pop the hood with the car running and i hear what sounds like spark inside the coil...when i hear the spark thats when the car sputters but this happens like every like 15-20 secs....need a new coil maybe??
any sugg. would be appreciated

ok guys i got the prob fixed just a simple plug without a head...geez how did that happen
