i have a 2003 2.2L DOHC Cavalier, and i was wondering what performance parts should i start out with, Many people start out with intake and exhaust (is that what i should start out with?) and others say for me to get a chip to regulate my gas/air ratio then go to intake and exhaust. Im kinda confused, and i would like to know a professionals view on this because i do not want to screw up my engine quicker than it should.

well honestly if your going to change the chip to regulate fuel/air ratio then change the intake and exhaust so that when you change it,your changing it for a reason..otherwise you might as well keep it stock cuz the chip in it now regulates the gas/air ratio that the car came with when you bought the car cuz you cant really change it to performance with stock set up...but thats just my oppinion

start with intake and exhaust... then motor mounts... then upgrade some internals... then buy either turbo, super, or nitrous and a stage 1 or 2 clutch...

and for looks go for a body kit, lower it, get some neons (under hood and over pedals looks sick)

and THEN you gotta do sound system... go for some rockford 10s and a 2000 watt amp... get some alpine 6x9s for the back... man, the list goes on and on for all the crap you can do...

1) Our cars when chipped don't do Shait!
2) An e-bay "power chip" only dumps more fuel into the car which it useless if it cannot be used.
3) Only way to regulate air/fuel ratio is with a SAFC, E-manage, or a stand alone management. Which not alot can usually afford that.

First thing you should ask yourself. "What do you want out of your car?" If you want turbo, its pointless to spend a few hundred bucks for a N/A header whereas you can wait till you aquire all your parts for that and spend the money on a log manifold for the turbo. Its all up to you buddy. Oh yea and one more thing. Stick with the big brand names in automotive parts unless you know the quality, names like BOMZ + and Dropzone are Junk that breaks crap. Do some research before you buy your parts for the companies names.
