3rd Brake light Melted

Anyone ever had the problem with there 3rd brake light Melting when your bulbs went out. It didnt happan the last time i replaced them but for some reason this time they melted the plastic housing. I replaced them last two years ago. Just wandering if anyone had ever had that happen. Its not a huge deal to me im probably going to take advantage of that and get a clear one. Put some Leds in there so it doesnt melt again. Anyone know what would cause this to melt. other than a current surge?

It must have been on for a long time to melt.
It's possible that your brake light switch got stuck on once, or it might have happened in really bad stop and go traffic, where you had to ride the brakes

yeah man i dont know. I could have been stuck in traffic but usually im pretty lazy with the brake. ill downshift and then if im gonna be sitting at a stop light for a while ill put on the parking brake. I switched the bulbs out w/ a different type and they dont seem to be as hot. i just need to get a new lens now. probably with my coming pay check ill get a clear one and some LED Bulbs that way i dont melt this one.
