Go back in time .... before the Internet and DVDs.
Before shootings, stabbings, joy-riders and crystal meth...
Before SEGA or Super Nintendo and playstation 1/2. Way back...

I'm talking about hide and seek in the park.
The corner dairy, hopscotch, go-carts, cricket in front of the
rubbish bin

Skipping, handstands, footy on the best lawn in the street ...
Bullrush, go home stay home, slipnslide, the trampoline with water on it


Hula-hoops, pogo sticks, jumping in enormous puddles, mud pies ...
and building dams in the gutter.

Summer lasted all holidays and it hardly rained,
and when it did you would see half your class at the pictures.
The smell of fresh cut grass and making birds nests on the school
field.

"Big bubbles no troubles" 'with hubba bubba bubblegum.
A choc-top Mr Whippy cone on a warm summer night after you've chased
him round the block.


When 20 cents worth of mixed lollies was a meal and smoking fags was

really cool.

Watching cartoons, short commercials ...
The Thunderbirds, Scooby-do, Captain Caveman, Hong Kong Phooey,
The Mickey Mouse Club, Josie and the pussycats and ...
heeeey heeeeey heeeeeeey it's Faaaaaaat Albert!
And staying up late on a long weekend and watching the Sunday
Horrors.

When around the corner seemed far away, and going into town seemed
like going somewhere.


A million mozzie bites, wasp and bee stings.

Sticky fingers. Cops and Robbers, Cowboys and Indians.

Riding bikes and catching tadpoles.

Swimming in the neighbour's pool, drawing all over the road with

chalk.

Climbing trees. Walking to school, no matter what the weather.

Running till you were out of breath. Laughing so hard that your

stomach hurt.

Jumping on the bed, pillow fights ...
Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for the
giggles.
Being tired from playing ... remember that?

The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team.
Water balloons were the ultimate weapon.
Eating jelly crystals, making homemade lemonade.

There were two types of sneakers - girls and boys.
You knew everyone in your street - and so did your parents!
You would roller-skate everywhere all day.

It wasn't odd to have two or three "best" friends.
You didn't sleep a wink on Christmas Eve.
When nobody owned a pure-bred dog.

When 20c was decent pocket money and 50c was rich.
When nearly everyone's Mum was at home when the kids got there from
school.
It was magic when Dad would "remove" his thumb.
When it was considered a great privilege to be taken out to dinner
at Cobb and Co with your parents.

yeah I got that last week.

I kinda wish I was back there. None of this adult bullshit to put up with.

I miss those days. Seems like ages ago now. :(

Getting teeth pulled at the school dentist (without anasthaetic)
Getting beaten by the woodwork teacher.
Getting beaten by Dad for getting into trouble at school
Endless crappy scout camps
Falling off my Raleigh Chopper
Falling off my roller skates
Getting belted by just about everybody over the age of 12
Having to sit in silence for the 6 o'clock news
Not being allowed to use the phone,cost too much.

damn, u guys make it seem so good... all my memories as a little kid are almost gone. i think im growing old even though im 16.:bloated: i miss the days my bike was the coolest and doing those cool skids and jumping off curbs with it and doing huge pop a wheelies and playing hockey with the other kids on my skates. car? what car? skates were my way of getting around and stealing was fun (and cheap) and ice cream trucks were the high point of my day and when i had contests to see who could build the best lego spaceship........ man....... i forgot about all that stuff.... kids today are too computery.... kinda sad actually

naw man what i remember are when i would watch all the cool shows like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , Thundercats, Transformers, The Real Ghostbusters, The Smurfs..etc. back when cartoons were cool..

also playin the regular Nintendo that every game you'd have to blow in real hard 2 get them 2 work lol...i'd play excitebike and super mario bros./duck hunt with my cousins all the time...

back when wearing one-piece pjs were cool!

back when cereals used to give the best prizes in them instead of sending away for them

when cars like the Delorean , Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari Testarossa, and C4 Corvette were on the walls of my cousin ronnie's room(he got me into cars when i was really little)

when i used 2 think that mr. rogers was really cool and i thought that the trolley did take you to the land of make believe....lol

haha i remember those damn nintendo games too... mega man 2 was the shit!!! never beat it though :( waking up saturdat mornings to watch all the coolest shows like x-men, teenage mutant ninja turtles and all those other ones. i still remember this awesome thing in the back of coco puffs where u would open the back up and u would pour the coco puffs into the top and it would slide from left to right till it got to the bottom. i loved that thing... i also remember going on a hill with my friends in brooklyn and taking a skate board and laying down and just going down the hill... right into the street!!! we were nuts back then... i would never do that shit now.

Ahhh Yes, I remember back when the most vulgar word in my vocabulary was "doo-doo head", and I would look around to see who was around before I would say it.:alien2:
