How are they cylinders numbered?

I am having the nightmare of my life trying to do the simple task of replacing my spark plugs. I bought the bosch platinum +4 plugs which are pre gapped and should just be dropped in. I pulled out the old plugs, and put the new ones in at 15lbs a piece, now my truck is misfiring in cylinder one! Which cylinder is #1? Is it the closet to the front or the farthest? I can't figure out whats wrong, I pulled out all the new plugs twice and they are all pitted like they are sparking, but the truck is definitly not hitting on all six cylinders. Help!

The cylinders are numbered front to rear 1,2,3,4,5,6 with #1 at the front. the factory plugs should last for 100,000 miles.

Once you get your truck running again, can you tell us if there is any difference between the stock plugs and the +4 Platinums? I am looking into replacing the stocks, but am debating between the bosch platinum +4 and the stock plugs.

Thanks, Erik

I will definitly post the results, once I get everything back to normal. My father has an 03 Trailblazer that he put the +4 plugs in, and he is getting 1mpg better in the city and about 2 to 2.5 mpg better on the freeway. He was saying it's just a smoother ride all the way around. I figured if I could get 2mpg better for only $35 it's worth it. I will post the results for my 02 after I burn through a few tanks.

Does anyone know the bosch part number for the Platinum +4 plugs? I think it will be B44xx. Thanks, Erik

I think the # is 4482, I am at work now, and I have everything at the house. I will update later, but I am almost positive the part # is 4482.

What do you think of the new plugs?

What do you think of the new plugs?

To tell you the truth, I ordered them around the post date of my last reply, and they were backordered for a few weeks and then they have sat in my garage for the past week. I was thinking about installing them today, but I was running around and the truck needs to be cool. I will hopefully install them tomorrow and when I do, post the results!

P.S. In my RX300 (V6 3.0L), the plugs have made a noticeable difference if not in mileage yet, but overall smoothness of the engine.

Yea, they installed really easily, much more so than my RX. Dont seem to give me any significant mileage increase, and I would be just as happy with the stocks in, as they seemed to fire faster during cold starts. Overall, Im not disappointed, but not overly wowed either. Its up to you now.
