Why does my overdrive light flash when my car starts?

I own a 2001 Nissan maxima gle with 60k

Recently when I start the car, The overdrive light flashes a few times.

In addition the service engine light illuminates (I plan to get the code read at autozone tmw)

Does anyone know why the O/D would flash a few times?

Mine flashed whenever I unplugged the transmission sensor on purpose to get full line pressure shifts when I was racing...but other than that, it could be bad news, as maxima's automatic transmissions are not known for their longevity.
