Hey everyone. Well I went to the local dealer to try to test drive one of the new Si's, unfortunately they didnt have any :o Well anyway the guy was telling me about the car...What ever happend to "There's no replacement for Displacement?" This car is a 2.0L dohc i-vtec and only pushes 160hp?! The 99-00's were 1.6L dohc vtec and pushed 160  Whats up w/ the new Si?...and by the way the Si uses the K20 motor right?

maybe the i-vtec saves gas better than the older si.

Fuck that if we wanna save gas we'll buy a dx :D I just dont know why now they have their 2.0L pushing only 160 hp, when they had 160hp from their 1.6. Why make the engine bigger? Why go from a 1.6 to a 2.0 if the 1.6 was just fine and putting out the same amt of hp

They're turning into every other car maker and using the same engine in more than one car. RSX base/Civic Si

It's a cheap and boring idea. The car looks awkward, there's no center console, and its heavier than the old coupes. Beats the hell out of me why anyone would buy it over a Sentra SE-R or Protege 5

Damn that sucks....yea i asked the guy I was like, so this car comes with the K20...he's like 'no its been modified a bit', i was like man shut the fuck up! lol...that sucks now this is turning into nissan....SR20's everywhere!!! lol

They have always done that this is nothing new. Even though it's the base motor for the RSX and has the same HP as the B16A the K20 has alot more torque and in the long run a much stronger motor.
But however, I would agree with everybody else I do not like the new SI body style the concept version of the insight a few years ago looked better.

so the new si has the same engine as the base RSX?

so if a si will win a base rsx if they race?

nobody likes the looks for the new si........the car has been out for a while now, and i haven't seen one on the street yet!

it'll catch on once more parts come out for the si. the colors aren't that great either........i miss that electron blue.

04-16-2002, 04:56 PM
That was the other thing i didn't like the choice of colors sucked and what's up with no blue that's almost like a trade mark for the si.

i guess the 'intended' customers are too pussy to rev and shift properly...the higher torque helps them make it to their curling game on time

Reasons to Buy a new Si over a Protege or Sentra:

1. I've driven an SE-R... nothing impressive at all...
2. SE-R's are old news... there is nothing innovative about that car.
3. Protege's are phat looking, but slower than a terd on wheels.
4. The K20 is already being placed in many drag cars and has been dyno'd very high... it has a lot of potential.
5. I'm probably the only one in the world, but I like the looks of the New Si.. it's totally different. Granted, it's a little underpowered for the displacement, but then again, look at the SE-R and the Protege!

i just dropped by the local honda dealership, where they have one prominantly displayed...after a look over, i'd say i definatly like it more than the 6th gen, and i'd actually consider purchase of one......but not until someone makes some coilovers for that thing! sheesh! you'd think honda wouldnt make it look like a damned monster truck, being its supposed to be "sporty"....

wouldnt it be pretty easy to just swap in the rsx type s engine in the new si then? it might be costly and pointless but wouldnt it be an easy swap? plus it would be hella fast.

blufke
04-17-2002, 04:55 PM
well, it does produce the same amount of hp as the 6th gen si but being a 2.0 it produces a lot of torque. it makes 1 ft/lb less than the b20b/z motors.

The Si is using the base RSX motor cause Honda dont want the Si cutting in the RSX Type S sells.

And about the new way Honda is taking, I have the impression that Honda will now be a middle class vehicle maker and letting the high class and sport class to its division Acura. On the end, Honda takes all anyway so they dont really get a damn.

Anf or us, sport enthusiasts, I think we'll have to switch from Honda to Acura in thr long run. I mean the RSX rocks way more than the Si.

Horn out.

They learned their lesson last time offering a Civic Si at $17,000 that was almost dead on performance of an Integra GSR priced at $23,000. Si sales up, GSR sales down.

It's all business for them, they don't give a damn if it outguns the old Si's or not.

Yeah you could swap in a K20C3 and the 6 speed to go with it, but like you said, costly and pointless. If you want the motor, buy an RSX-S and take advantage of its better handling, hella better looks, center arm rest, non-ghey shifter, leather seats, and did I mention better looks? :)

OK WATCH THIS,keep up with me now. The new civic si is not a 2.0, whoever says or believes this is just plain retarded and should be smacked with a rice cake or something. The civic si is a b16 1.6 rated at 160hp. Now the civic type R has the 2.0 rsx type S motor which has 200hp and 153lbs of torque. the si is the same as the sedan 99-00. Sorry for soundind so rude but it hurts to see people believing the wrong info...

sorry that is the k20c engine in the type R. The civic si is still a b series engine.

ok, watch this. the ***NEW*** Si is a k20 engine. 160hp, 2.0 liter. same engine as the base RSX. the 99-01 Si is a b16, 1.6l 160hp.

it hurts to see idiots who dont know what the hell they are talking about trying to run shit on the message boards. keep your newbie status a bit long champ, and read for awhile, get a clue, then come back when you do.
