Hydrolocked!

Went through too deep a puddle today and sucked in about a quart of water. Engine is locked up solid now. Can't even get it to turn over with no plugs. Will the engine from an auto 94 work in my 94 5-speed?

Don't see why not, you have to change flywheels...

Just so you don't feel so bad...I went to tow a brand new Infinity Q45 back in '93 when we were flooded all summer here, this guy had driven through knee deep water with it.
It was hydro'd, wouldn't turn over. The air intakes are down real low, like by the turn signals. Sucked in a lot of water.
Towed it to the dealer, and the service mananger told me he had three others in there the same way, alloy pistons shattered when the cold water hit them, rods twisted from the lock, etc.
$6,000 for a new motor, not covered under warrantee due to negligence. Owner's manual clearly states to never drive through water higher than the bottom of the car. :lol2: :loser:

It'll work. As previously stated, change the flywheel. But I'd start searching for a "H" series motor since you have a reason to change engines.

Well state farm is covering it under comprehensive with a $500 deductible. Not sure if they're going to put a new engine in it or total it - probably total it. Too bad since it was a coupe with only 110k. I'll let you know.

Most insurance companies will only write off a vehicle as a total loss if the repair cost is 40% (or more) of what the car is worth. So if the car is valued at $10K, and it costs $4K to fix it, they'll total it.

Well state farm told the dealer to go ahead and replace the engine. $2600+ with a $500 deductible - all for driving thru too deep a puddle.

Well, that's a good thing.
Did the insurance company issue a check (minus the deductable)
If so, shop around for a "H" series motor.

Well the replacement engine is in. It was my son's car, and he's the one who drove it through the puddle. Since he acted like it was my job to put the engine in, and he said he wasn't going to be the one without a car while his was being repaired, I just let the dealer do it. He ended up driving his brothers supercharged thunderbird while his Accord was being repaired. When he got it back and drove it, he said, "seems a little slower than it used to be." I guess so - he'd gotten used to 12lbs of boost!
