I have a 95 Sierra Z71. Last summer the A/C was working fine, I just tried it the other day and I get no cold air. I bought a recharge kit and hooked it up, the pressure was way high. What should I do next? What kind of ballpark figure can I expect to pay for service?

Did you add r134a before you noticed the pressure was too high? What is the pressure you are seeing?
Is the compressor cycling on and off?

It was high, I didn't add any. I think that the clutch is not engaging, Thanks.

First thing to check is the pressure cycling switch on the accumulator. If you remove the electrical connector to the pressure switch and insert a jumper wire, see if the compressor kicks on. If so, you found your problem. The switch can be replaced without loosing any freon.

Without sounding stupid............. Where is the pressure cycling switch located? Thank you for your input, unfortunatley it is unseasonably hot and humid here in the magical mitten right now.

I have the same prob with an 03 blazer. I know where the elec. connector to the pressure switch is, but what do you mean by a jumber wire?

The cycling switch is on the accumulator (a silver cylinder near the passenger side firewall).

The pressure cycling switch closes the circuit when there is enough pressure in the system (like turning a light switch on) and it opens the circuit when the pressure is too low (like turning a light switch off).
To test the switch, you need to complete the circuit. A jumper wire is a short piece of wire that you make to complete the circuit.
