Does anyone know if it is possible to do at least a 350 Vortec into a '97 Jeep Cherokee? I have heard of people doing it but I have yet to see one. I love the 4.0 but I know that I need a new engine in my jeep and kinda want a 350.

Any thing can and has been done But here is a few question for you.
How much money are you willing to spend? Expect it to cost more then you think.
How long can you do without the Cherokee? Expect it to take longer then you think. Especially if you not use to doing this kind of thing.
IM NOT trying to talk you out of it at all. Just trying to get you ready for what may happen

Prepare to spend hundreds of man hours to get it right, and thousands of dollars. Then, on top of it all, you've got a vehicle that is no longer street legal.
If your looking to put out vortec-like power, consider a 50 state legal supercharger.

Check out www.advanceadapters.com . It is possible but will require a tranny swap as well as the aw4 is not compatable with any other engine.

thanks I have thought about it alot and really i just wanted it to stay a base 350 not a whole lot of torque or horsepower cause i plan for this to be a trail rig. I just wondered if any one has seen it, because I hear all these stupid tall tale stories about cars and thought hit me a little bit more realistic. But I really think that I am just going to eventually get my 4.0 rebuilt and completely tune the hell out of it. Although I dont think a supercharger will happen since you have to have a cowl hood or scoop for it to work, and i dont really like the looks of cowl hoods n suvs and trucks

For it to be a street legal swap, you wound need a 1997 donor car / truck and swap everything over.
