Volvo 960 vs Thunderbird

Anyone have any specs on the 960? Isnt it like the top of the line version? (It doesnt have those tiny dual tips, it has a big 3" about straight out exhaust..)
Anyways.. my friend in the 960, and me in the T-Bird, were heading to the Skate America to mee some people.. Anyways.. we get to a straight, and he flies up on my ass with his high beams on. I'm like "Oh hell naw he jus didnt.." I slow down to about 35, deactivate the OD button, and downshift into 2nd, and punch it. The weak 4.6 Wakes up, and hauls my 4000lb Thunderbird up to 80, with about a bus length+ lead...
On the way home, I'm in the back.. so I get right on his ass and shine my high beams... we get onto a 3 or 4 mile long straight.. I deactive the OD button, downshift into 2nd, and nail it, passing his ass. I active the OD button, and continue hauling ass....I get up to 80, and it just stops going.. and I hear the 4.6L bouncin off the rev limiter. I check the speed again..80.. WTF? Check I'm on OD (its a light on my gauge cluster).. and its all good.. check the shifter, and I'm still in SECOND.. shit.. By the time I realize in still in 2nd, the road is almost to an end.. I check my mirror, and the 960 is WAY behind..
Who ever designed the 1-2-D-OD config should be shot. 1, 2 and D are all "SHIFT" points. The OD gear is a button below the shifter itself. A PITA!

its kinda pointless to be turning the OD on and off like that. If your at WOT it wont go into overdrive. So turning the OD off to race is really pointless.

I'm suprised he wasnt quicker. My car makes 205hp (stock) and weighs about 4000 lbs..
(were talkin crank hp here)
edit: I think the top of the line (in performance) were the T-5's. I thought the 960 was the top of the line for luxury..

yes, the 960 was their biggest luxury car, it had a V6. The 850 was their fastest sedan which had a Turbo I5.
