hello,

I am busy building Tamiya Mazda RX7 FC3S model. I have painted some interior sections flat black (XF-1?). Once paint is dried it is all foggy and there are shiny spots in it.

It looks very annoying, what can I do to solve?

with flat black you need to be sure the paint is mixed really well and it needs to be applied very even for a consistent look. i tend to use a spray can for flat black because i find that the acrylic is a bit fussy.

I use my moms acrylics that you can get at Hobby Lobby. It's not with the model paints it's with the other paints. It gives a nice cloth look and fairly even looking.

What are you using to thin the paint? Are you airbrushing or hand brushing?

I have never had any problems airbrushing Tamiya acrylics, any color.. As long as it's thinned correctly and sprayed at the proper psi, it should work fine. Hand brushing is another story. Tamiya acrylics do not hand brush well at all.

Agreed. For hand brushing, you can't beat Testors Acryl flat or semigloss black. They cover so much better than Tamiya, and dry very nicely.

Very important to stir the paint well and try and keep the paint nice and even when you apply it.
