90 3.3l w/error 41

I have a 90 caravan that just suddenly started running rough and died. It can be started and idles very rough; and if the throttle is played with it will rev to 3000 rpm but has no real throttle response at any other point. Error code that comes up is 41. Looked it up but it doesn't make any sense to me. Any help would be appreciated.

I really don't think the code you indicated is related to the problem you are having with you vehicle. The problem is related to the charging system and not to allowing the car to rev. and idle. My suspicions are that you have either a fuel problem or a bad cat. converter. The cat. will cause all the problems you indicate if it is blocked. Based on the year I assume you have more than 100K miles and therefore it is probably time to change it anyway. You can purchase a direct bolt on or change it to a universal converter just get a one for your specific application. Also have the fuel pressure checked to insure you are getting adequate fuel pressure to operate the car. If it is low it can cause bad performance too and usually indicates a fuel pump problem. I hope this gives you some ideas on where to look.

thanks for the info; it has a brand new exhaust including cat. I am going to replace the fuel pump and take it from there.

I'll bet almost anything that your alternator is bad. The error 41 combined with the symptoms you describe make that almost a certain diagnosis. Try the test with the voltmeter/multitester as outlined in this thread:
