its under the rear seat...no need to drop the gas tank my friend...on the front of the rear seat there is a lever you push in on both sides (if sitting in rear seat you would reach it between your legs)

then behind seat there is a bolt on each side that needs to be unscrewed to lift seat out completely

pry off black cover gently...you now see the fuel pump harness and the fuel filter...make sure you unplug fuel pump harness and start your car and let it die to release fuel pressure...and when taking old filter out use the plugs on the new filter to keep the gas from spilling all over your back seat when taking old one out.

i think they also say to unplug negative on battery before fuel filter removal...the actual filter is very small...autozone gave me the wrong one first time and had to go back (idiots) the new right filter was like half the size and has a metal prong on one side

good luck bro

Is this the same on a 2000 Accent Hatchback GS Automatic? I looked under the rear seat and found the floor lid with the fuel pump benieth, but no filter. I also checked on the firewall and it is not there either. I followed the fuel lines and cannot find it. Unless it is in the fuel tank, I don't think I have one.
