Squealing front console - arrrggghhh!

My front console squeals, squeaks etc most of the time when I drive. It's very high pitched and annoying. I'm assuming it's just cheap plastic rubbing against itself - when I apply pressure to the top of the console I can get the squealing to subside. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it or where the sound might be coming from exactly? I have not been a ble to isolate the problem and would LOVE to!

I have had the same squeak in the console of my 2000 Cherokee since day one. I bought it brand new. Never got around to taking it in to get it fixed. I don't think anyone really knows, but your assumption is probably right. It won't hurt anything, but it is an irritant. I guess the Jeep makers figure if you want a quiet dash buy a Mercedes or a Toyota. Jeeps are noisy. I'm sorry, I meant real Jeeps like the Cherokee and the Wrangler.
