4x4 woes

My 95 Explorer has started to be picky on when the 4x4 wants to work, sometimes I turn the dial to 4x4 hi and it pulls with the light on like it should, but sometimes the 4x4 hi and lo lights blink 6 times and no 4x4, and more often than not when the lights function as supposed to the 4x4 hi will not pull but 4x4 lo will?.?.?.?.?.?????? also it may mean something but I know when this problem is going to occur because my (OD OFF) button will not function right when the 4x4 isn't going to work?.....................mechanics (several) have looked and said " I dunno whasamatta................" HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

have you taken it to a Ford Service center. They should be able to fuind the issue...
My 4x4 started acting crazy on my 2002..turned out to be the 4x4 contol module. It was changed and now its working fine.
