Whats up with that i went to many hobby stores in my area and they all are saying that all their main distributors are out for another couple of weeks. Actually they didn't tell me exactly when they are going to get them in. I'm stuck doing interior work, need to get started on some bodies. I live in CT, and i can't even find any on american websites, can anyone tell me whats up and if there are any other websites that might have them ecspecially primer. Thanks and input will be appreciated.

I have no clue, but if you use it as a primer, I would just go get a plastic primer from somewhere like Hobby Lobby. I've used them recently, and they work really nicely as a primer, and if you don't like how it looks afterwards, just give it a brake fluid bath.

From what I understand.. it's got something to do with some new law here in California that's requiring Tamiya to put some extra warning BS on their paint labels, which means they have to reprint all their labels and re-distribute everything.

Yup: It's a labeling issue with California, and since Tamiya's headquarters are in California and it's a big market, they decided to stop importing everything until the problem is rectified. Word was originally mid April for them to begin shipping again, but that's clearly come and gone.
You can still bring it in through overseas mail-order if you really need the stuff.

What's California's problem? Probably more chance of getting shot/murdered/raped there than catch some dreaded Tamiya inflicted disease! They should get their priorities right!!!

Dude, they elected the Kindergarden Cop for their governor: Need I say more?

Where in CT are you? I'm in Guilford and I've been to a lot of the bigger hobby stores around here and yeah they dont have any leftover, too bad about the labeling issue. I've been using the new model master lacquer white primer, and its not too bad..

It's only a labeling problem. I spoked to one of Tamiya's people at TamiyaCon X in mid April. He said their entire recalled stock had to be shipped back overseas for re-labeling. He mentioned late May as possibly being back in stock. Well check the calender. I'd suspect it won't be long now. There are alternatives. Who knows, with this forced stallment you might appreciate the hobby even more once you get back to work.

well this is pretty old news. i believe i posted about this 2 months ago. anyhow.... Gunze Mr.Surfacer is now available again in the US, i got some last week through my LHS. its pretty much the same as Tamiya. Tamiya has released a statement saying it has resolved the label issue and will be shipping again by mid- June. this was printed in this months issue of Scale Train Magazine and there was a notice faxed to my LHS from there distributor so it seems to be true. this also includes there glues as well as paint. so for now see if your LHS cant order you some Mr.Surfacer to hold you over. i would order some 500 and 1000, which is the same as Tamiya regular and fine primers.

I tried the MM lacquer primer today and to my surprise its really good.It covers very well and I found it dried very smooth like Tamiya primer.
