overfilling the oil

a friend of mine has a 2000 chrysler concorde, he went and had an oil change done. well they put 6 quarts of synthetic oil back in his car. he drove it for the rest of the day (he didnt know they had overfilled it) and then the next day he went to crank it and it wouldnt start. He had it towed to the dearlership, and they told him that the timing was messed up.

my question is, can over filling the oil cause the timing to mess up on a car? And if so, is there any websites or anything that states that can happen?

Thanks!

no, overfilling the oil won't normally do that, what probably happened is that the timing chain tensioner let loose and caused the timing to skip, unfortunately this is a common problem on the 2.7 liter V6, on models prior to 2001 at least.
