1998 accord lx tranny is acting up

My sisters 1998 honda accord lx's tranny is starting to act a bit wierd. If you are standing at a light and than almost step on the gas pedal all the way, when it gets to about 5k RPM it will start to shift but REV up about 300 rpm's more before it actually shifts. It seems as if it is slipping when it is shifting, It is an automatic also. There were 2 codes on the car but they were fuel/air related. Has anyone experienced something like this?

P.S. She and her husband have the tendency to switch into drive before the car stops if they are reversing...could this be the cause??

Yep sounds like the trans is about to go on that one. I think that on an auto you should alwayslet the car stop completly before changing from d to r or the other way around.Trans problems are not uncommon for hondas of that year, especially the v6, and the shifting isnt helping the trans either
