My second mini-cooper encounter

So I had raced a supercharged mini cooper a year or 2 ago and I had eventually beaten him after we dealt with alot of traffic...but it had for the most part been in a straight line. Well my friend and I got to debating that it would be interesting to see how amazing one would handle in the turns. 2 days later I got my answer.

So about an hour ago, I'm dropping a friend off at home and on my way back I'm on a road that is quite twisty at times. Well on one of the straighter parts, I'm getting sick of going 35mph, so I decide to swing out into the left lane and pass two cars, one of which was a mini-cooper. Well he took off right after me, and I saw him coming in the rearview mirror, and being still on boost, I floored it, leaving him behind me. Well apparently he didn't appreciate that, as the second I slowed down again, he pulled out into the left and again tried to pass me. Again he met with the same result, I was still in third and just nailed the gas and got instant boost and held off his advance. So now the guy is apparently enraged, as into the first turn, he hops out into the other lane and tries to pass me.

I'm thinking to myself, this guy is f*ing nuts, he's passing me in the wrong lane going into a turn. So not wanting him to cause a head on collision I brake and let him pass me. So now he is in front heading into the proverbial 'twisties'. And WOW! that car can corner. He just zipped through them. I tried to follow which resulted in my tires squealing like stuck pigs as I took the turns at 70...and he was just leaving me behind. The little thing had absolutely zero bodyroll as he just zipped through the turns like he was on rails. I was astounded as I actually had to slow down for the final turn, and he was still speeding up.

So as we finally make it out of the turns I get my chance at redemption and take off. At 85 I pull up next to him, grin, and at 105 he was a car behind. At 125 he was significantly behind me. I let off and shifted into 6th to cruise and this guy pulls up next to me. I lower my window and am about to comment on his handling when he screams "ARE YOU F*ING NUTS?"
I'm like wtf :sly: I ask "why?"
He asks me what I was thinking passing and driving like that.
I reply "Weren't you the moron who passed me going blind into a turn? and then followed me up to 125?"

At this point I'm just utterly confused, I didn't know what the guy's problem was, but it seemed to me that he had no problem driving like a maniac a minute ago. So I decided to just whip a quick right and leave him before it got even weirder. I'd call this one a tie, as he had me in the handling, but I had him on the straightaways.

I think this is Rice(er). Any mods want to do a IP check?

Another good story. Going for best story teller in AF this year or what? Once again, another good one. Anymore stories you are dying to get out? :)

I've run across a lot of people like that here in L.A. They start by tailgating incessantly, then when you speed up they follow and continue to tailgate, doing anything they can to pass you (including using the wrong lane) then it becomes an all out WOT race. Then you they pull up next to you at a light and act like you're only the one who's driving crazy and they're the innocent victim.

My theory is they're just pissed cause you won.

Nice kills and death to the 60's stang (in your other threads).

I would certainly rather a 3000GT than a MINI. I am sure he was just mad that he has a girls car no matter how bad ass it handles. :cwm27:

Sounds like my sex life. And instead of months, it's years.....:grinno:

Anyway, I had my own opportunity to take on a Mini on the highway. But, that doesn't matter....except that I won :)

Civ man, I'm sorry, that is another department I'm managing to do quite well in :grinyes:

clawhammer, I'd guess he was late 30s/early 40s. A general all-around prick...probably because he didn't pick the right mid-life crisis car :smokin:
