I'm back! (part one)

Well after not driving my car since Easter I finally got it running this week and moved back to the Philly region...which means races were bound to happen.

So the first was a kill and a loss. I'm driving to my friend's house when I see an '04 Cobra up ahead. We both take a turn and he proceeds to start going in and out of a few cars trying to get to the head of the pack at a semi-quick speed. I follow. Up ahead we both hit a light and get slowed to 20mph. As soon as I pull up next to him, he revs and takes off, expecting his jump I was still in first gear and floored it at instant boost. I actually managed to jump a bit ahead as we shifted and had half a car on him as I topped out 2nd. Around 80mph I look to my right to see that he is still at my back bumper...but here is when it really got crazy.

As we are going about 80-85, a blue 60s stang spots my eye...as he proceeds to hop over the double yellow and roar past the two of us (mid race) and leave us like we are at a walk. Apparently he had seen the action and decided to partake.

As he disappears from view the cobra and I shut it down at about 105 with me about a door in front. I'm sure if we had continued I would have gotten walked up top, but the cobra was the one that decided to shut it down first.

So as we pull up to the next light, I pull next to the 60s stang in the turning lane and while listening to the beautiful tone produced by his all-out racing cam and open headers, I simply admit defeat :worshippy
As the light turns green I give the stang a thumbs up, but the jerk in the cobra gives him the finger and floors it getting a bit squirrely out of the hole. I turned, but I'm sure that light blue stang put him in his place again. All in all a great way to start racing again.

Gotta love assholes with big egos...they're my fav!

Nice kill on the Cobra, even better death to the early model stang!

What kind of condition was the older car in?

From what I've heard, the 04 Cobras tend to hit a brick wall at about 100 mph. That's what I've heard. I'm sure one of the Stang owner here will clarify otherwise. But, in any case, I'm fairly confident in saying that you would have taken the Cobra up top too. Nice kill there.

Would have been nice to see the early Stang kickin' both of your asses though. Glad you are back in action jackson .

Sounded great and looked pretty good. I don't know if it was original paint..I kinda doubt it, but it looked in pretty good condition no matter what for being 4 decades old. A few of my friend's familys have 70s stangs and it was in better shape than about half of those and definetly faster than any.

I can't really speculate on a highspeed race with a cobra, I can tell you that they pull very hard all the way to 155! I have a video of it in my baracks on that computer. I will try to get the clip on here. They have loads of torque and a 6 speed transmission not to mention they have trap speeds of well over 100 so I don't see them hitting a wall at 100. Nice races though. That 3000GT is pretty fast.

But did the blue stang come from behind you guys or was he coming from a turn?

So this guy blew by you guys like you were standing still, while you were racing? That's insane.

well imagine a low 11 sec car against 2 low 13 to high 12 second cars.

almost like a 350Z blowing past a stock 240sx

i love muscle cars

Yeah, I don't know where the guy came from. I never noticed him until he was midway through embarasing us. But I would definantly say he was in the 11s if not 10s by the way he just caught and passed us.
