Any oil pump tips?

Greetings folks

I noticed a leak from the front of the block, I mistakenly thought it was the oil pan seal, replaced it still leaking. A much closer look shows the leak coming from the mating surface of oil pump and block.

So any tips on replacing the oil pump to block gasket. Besides the fact that you have to take off every thing on the front of the engine!!!
and the exhaust and oil pan etc.....

That oil pump reminds me of the 350 turbohydromatic pump. I like that style better than the gear pumps.

It's probably not the gasket. It's probably the main seal. I'd replace that first.

Thanks Geozukigti

If you are talking about the crank seal(main seal?) then I am out of luck.
I made it that far last night, the timing belt, crank pulley etc.. are dry
as a bone. No oil anywhere.

Nope it is into the deep I must go! No biggy just a lot of unbolting.

I was wondering if any sealants etc can be used and what types.
Seems the standard compressible metal gasket (OEM) and the paper
gasket in the kit may not be sufficient in the long run.
My other engine had this same leak. It bit the dust before I had a chance to do some wrenching. So I am in new territory.
