best wet weather tyres

still bored so i'm sharing again.
superbike mag may 2005 again
tyre test between Michelin Pilot powers (road tyre)(my current), Pirelli Diablo Corsa's (fast road/track tyre) and Metzeler Racetec (race tyre)
they tested these for wet weather and cold weather and found that there wasn't much in it but the road tyre's came out infront due to being able to be closer to their optimal operating temperature.
all tyres had similar tyre temp's and time to warm up but because the race tyre's need more heat to work, they felt slower.
interesting point about how to warm them up and weaving does nothing for them compared to hard braking and acceleration.
also they all warmed up in the same time and to the same temp (well very close)

so weaving doesnt warm them up faster.. hmmm.. thats kinda wierd.. i guess make sense . but wierd
what about dunlop.. why dont they have any tires that got reviewed.. haha.. wanna know how my D208 ZR stacks up :)
and the wet preformance of my tire is good.. had to find out the other day
i went to work and was cloudy out... didnt think it would rain.. but its colorado.. this is the place where its 80s one day.. bilzzarding the next.. and back to 80s.. anyway when i left there was a considerable ammount of rain on the ground and i was scared to ride in it but i had to get home.. but i couldnt believe how well it tracked... i did get on it just a tad, to see how well it tracks, and i had to try kinda hard to break em... kinda made me feel good.. anyway.. i was fine untill i got to my place and there as a nice big puddle.. bike had traction in it but i got SOAKED!!!.. lol.. and the little dirt patch between my drive way and my shed (im renting and the bastards wont plant grass) i bould barely get up the little 2 ft ramp.. so not the best mudd tire ;)

I can understand the weaving aspect, well... sorta. It still scuffs / cleans the tire though. Besides, its a habit now.

weaving does clean the tyres and they did say so but it only warmed up to half what the brake and accel method did
oh and these tyre were used because they won the division in the super tyre test back in pommy summer time

Interesting... I know that I did about 100 miles or so in the rain on my Bridgestones (I think BT040 or something like that... NOT race tires or even remotely fast road tires) and I was surprised at how well they stuck, since they are REALLY hard and don't wear quickly. I was finally able to keep up with all the other liter+ bikes in the rain in the twisties. :rolleyes:
