I recently came across an 88ta gta,tpi with digi dash and trip thing
to the right of the cluster.Someone had broken into , and looks like they
triedto steal it , or now I think they may have been after the radio controls off the steering column, as the steering wheel is gone, and the column was trashed. They also cut the wires at the plugs. I have replaced the column and have everthing working( no radio controls on the wheel), working. Except for fuel.Theres no pressure on the rail.
I dont know much about the tpi's as Im mainly a carb kinda guy. But I couldnt pass this one up for $250. It also has a digital dash, with the trip thing to the right, thats cracked. Can someone tell me what its called?
Its a tpi 305 need to know where should I start looking first at the pump, or at the relays?? Can someone tell me what, burn off relay does?
Or actually how the pump relay works? Or the fuel pump oil sensor relay
works? Or the fuel pump prime connector?
How many horses should a 305 tpi run?
Alot of stuff huh? Well itd be a good time to show your stuff now.
It turns over fine and starts with a lil either , and has come along way in just a few hours. Itd be great to learn a lil more and fire her up tomorrow.

To check to see if the fuel pump is working, plug a wire into the lower left terminal of the ALDL. then touch the other end to you battery positive. You should hear the pump prime. If not connect the pressure gauge to the schrader valve on the fuel rail. If you still get nothing, then you should look at the fuel filter and pump, which is in the tank. If it seems to work okay by bypassing, check your relay which should be located in front of the drivers side firewall. also check to make sure the fuses are ok.
