Scion xB

My dad is lookng at a Scion xB for his business, replacing the gas sucking Chevy astro. We test drove it today, not a bad little thing. what? 145bhp, it was an auto, so expecting 110whp or so. but even fully loaded, 4 adults, and a full tank of gas (new salesmen, doesnt know to keep the tank low for test drives, just that much less weight) it was pretty peppy, from being a passenger it felt about like my moms 145bhp Frontier which is manual, but obviously the framed truck will weight more than a unibody, even with 4 adults v just me. either way, if he does get it i will probably get to drive it a good bit working for him...and the 'yota delaership threwi n free tires for life, no questions asked :evillol: ...but i cant waste the fronts too quick...or else my dad will pull the keys to both the scion and my truck out of my hand...
i was trying to talk him into joshing hte guy into letting me test drive a supercharged tC like it was my first car, and they actually had one on the lot, awaiting pick up to be shipped to jacksonvill, i asked the guy if i could and he said sure...untill he found out i already had a truck...thanks to my fart mouthed mom...
oh well....this thread was useless...but its non specific and a thumbs up for me as far as peformance (and interior room, i had TONS more than my short 5'5'' self could ever use) but they are still ugly and FWD unibodied cars....so...yeah...but if you think they look good or you dont care and you just want something to haul your buddies around in or bang a girl in the back seat (even enough toom on the floor) it is the best deal around...and the MPG is GREAT...31city with an auto... :naughty:

I'd give up good miliage so I can keep my dignity. And have fun trying to 'waste' the front tires on a FWD Auto like that. Shit, it took me three years to wear down the tires on my Rav4 to the point that i seriously needed them changed. But hey, to each his own, who am I to judge? I just went over to the darkside...

Easy way to do it if your wondering, just crank the wheel all the way over to right and gun it...always worked in the RAV.

only 108....duhhh....lol, they must be light... 1.5l and varible valve timing and yota can only manage 108bhp...oh well....as for buning them...ill set the hand brake, start in grass, and drag m rear wheels...starting in grass always worked for doin donuts in the Frontier... :)

What only 108 hp? That must not be very fast. The car probably weighs somewhere between 2500-3000 lbs. Comparing that to my Honda CRX which only weighs 2000 lbs, and has about the same HP, and I don't consider my Honda anywehre near fast.

i never said it was fast...i siad, as a pasenger, it felt about as peppy as my moms frontier. and they have to be lighter than 2500lbs...they are mostly plastic body, unibody, and small 4cyl block...my truck has a curb weight of 3150 i think. and its all steel, chrome bumpers, seperate chasis, and v6 block...

I dont like neither of the cars that Scion made... Expecially not the xA or xB ones. The newest tC looks way better than the other two. In fact that car is pretty sexy IMO.

i just realized something... the scion makes 108hp with a 1.5l engine, 10.x:1 CR and vvt-i....WTF? civics have them beat with similar MPG... something is wrong...unless the 10.x:1 is simply for thermal efficency and the vvt-i is simply there to concerve gas, and not give you an extra boost of HP in the upper RPM's for passing.... that or something, inkae manifold, ait intake piping, heads, exaust, somehting is holding back some serious performance and could be swaped out for an unbeleiveable HP gain with no sacrifice in gas mileage....

i think i know... the scion engine is cheap, the civic engine isnt

Hondas motors are better engineered its bigger makes more power better milage and i'm pretty sure its cleaner buring too. *comparing the d17 to your 1.5*

so yea they cost a bit more but its honda yea still well priced cheap sounds like an insult.

the 1.5L in the scions are actually pretty harty. They can handle boost quite well. There are plenty of turbo kits for the 2 cars because that platform is allready tried and true for japan.

Speaking of scions. Have you seen that XA comercial how that guy brags about his scion performance.

well, actually toyota does beat honda in reliablilty, go ahead and check out the consumer reports. It puts toyota on top for least amount of vehicles reported in as having some sort of problem.

wow man, i dont know about you, but the toyota cressida was a great sedan. RWD, had the n/a supra engine, and my friend's lasted for 230,000 miles before needing a new motor.

last time i checked the civic and accord came in coupe form and civic hatch, honda makes the integra/rsx, nsx, and s2000 which are all great cars.

CB not to point anything out but as soon as toyota stops production on the pos celica and mr2 (they should have left them alone after 92) all they will make is suvs, sedans and trucks other than the solara. I will admit as far as motors go toyota does have the most reliable motors but they lack power and they are advanced but now where near as advanced as honda motors. The only draw back of any honda motor is that it lacks torque. Toyota back about 10 years ago made some badass motors today they are still reliable but they lack power. Im not going to say toyota sucks the 2 ive owned where decent and you couldnt kill the motor, gun it from every stop light, no exhaust(long story), pushed about 800 watts constant through stock alternator, and wrecked it twice still runs just cant drive it cause stupid bitch in 00 blazer t-boned my ass. IMO both toyota and honda have there strong points but as far as performance goes honda has toyota beat, 10 years ago toyota was better but car companies make mistakes. Thats my opinion on this one.

update, turning radius is also teh suck...i had an easier time parallel parking my grandpa's 2500HD...
and it coulnt make a U-Turn on a road ive done a u-turn on with my moms frontier, had to pull a 3 point, and it coulnt make the bend around a tree to throw some empty ocmputer boxes on to the pule tha is building up for burning...
my dad is trying to get it to not have 31mph city...lol...

with the way we have been driving it that taint bad...lol

i was trying to peel out just from launching (not holding the brake) so i help the brake and reved to stall then let ogo of the brake completely to launch, got a squeal but my high beams went off. it wasnt like from diming, it looked just like my lowbeams...and after the inital launch they came back on... just wondering what could be the cause (it isnt like it takes a whole lot of electricity to launch)...
