Is this car worth modding?

I have a 95 cavalier. It's the 4 door model, 3 speed, with the 2.3L SOHC. It's slow, I know. I've got 100,000 miles on it now and it runs 120hp. I'm not sure if this is worth spending my money on. I'm not all that interested in the drags that go on, (mostly cuz my car will be so dusted) but it even feels slow on corners that I know I could go faster on. I just need some acceleration, top speed isn't all that important. I've been reading some of the things on this site every once in a while, and I know that you guys strongly suggest making your own decisions about your own car and stuff. I just wanted some input. Do you guys think this is worth putting money into or should I save up for something else? Keep in mind I'm trying to choose something that saves some cash. Also, if you think I should stick with the car I have, where should I start? I've heard upgrading the intake and the exhaust are two of most common mods.

Your motor doesn't exist. You probably have a 2.2 OHV...the only 2.3 made for cavy's was in 95 and that was a DOHC 16v pushing a few more ponies than 120. After that, there was the 2.4 Twin Cam in the Z24's.

Anyways, a pushrod 2.2 will never have the power you'll find in a Z24, but it can, under the right circumstances, have a good amount of punch, especially in the lowend where pushrod's reign supreme. However, if you're looking to save cash, your money may well be invested elsewhere, as making a pushrod 2.2 8v go fast is not exactly an easy task.

with 800 bucks you can match that of a 2.4L while racing... Mmm... You haven't felt anything till you ride in a car equipt with Nitrous... OMG.... Nothing like watching the speedo go from 55-90 mph in 5 secs.

I think I would have to go with everyone else. Its your car, and if you want to do it up. Personally, I wouldnt do much to an engine with that many miles, but if its been taken care of some modding should be fine. Also, as OverAllComa said, making a 2.2 OHV fast isnt a light task and will probably be pretty costly. If you were to start on it, I would put a cold/ram air intake and get some headers, high flow cat, and catback to start off with. Check out these websites, you should probably be able to find more mods there.
