I live in PA. I was thinking of getting a 180 thermostat for my car cause when the temperature goes above 75 my car runs warm, as in 210 degrees warm. Will a 180 thermostat fix this problem? Will I gain any Horsepower? Anyone have any links to websites with directions and pictures on how to install this? My car is a 1997 Grand Prix GT with 63000 miles on it. Thank you in advance;.

The 180 degree stat will help to lower the temperature of the car. It should also help with performance slightly. Just be careful that the fans come on at the appropriate time so that you don't kill the engine due to heat. To install drain coolant down slightly, follow top radiator hose to top of manifold. Thermostat housing on top. Remove housing and pull out old stat. and remove old gasket. Reinstall new stat and gasket put housing back in place and tighten, not too tight it will crack.
Refill coolant at radiator cap, start engine and check for leaks. Allow engine to warm up until thermostat opens, coolant level will drop, refill and replace cap. Job complete!!!

Everything Dad has said is right. But sometimes it's easier with pictures.

Dad,
Remember when Big-L posted all his "stuff that no one else could find stuff" I saved everything I could get my hands on. The guy was great. But he has moved up and off this site for another.
If you ever neeed any pictures, let me know. But, thank Larry.

He's been over at clubgp lately. I dont know why he would'nt still show up here from time to time. I spend 98% at clubgp and pop in here a couple times a day.
