Knows Nothing About Celica's...

Hey, I've been trying to find a car that gets good gas mileage yet can also be a decent performer. I saw that the Celica's (I like the early 90's models the most) get about 25+ on MPG give or take so I was wondering, could an early 90's Celica be made into a 13 second 1/4 mile car? If so, how much money would I have to spend to get it there? Thank you so much!

Easy, just buy a All-trac, upgrade the turbo, upgrade boost to about 1.2bar, metal cylinder head gasket, clutch, fuel rail and injectors, ECU, Induction kit, FMIC, or a water/air charge cooler from an st205 (1994 onwards GT4), strip out the interior, throw away the spare. Then your ready for the drag strip, that`ll get you into the mid to low 13`s and cost you lots and lots of $$$$.

Including the price of buying the car?????? I recon if you source the parts second hand from a UK or JDM st205 It could be done for under $5000. everything except the ECU.

It can be done for under $5K including the car or not including the car?

Including the car - if you gat a cheap one with maybe a blown turbo (that you will replace anyway) or if you are very god at haggling the price down on stuff, unless you are willing to wait cause at the moment the Dollar is very weak and you wont get much for your money outside the US. If you include the price of the car as well then I doubt very much you will be able to do it on that amount of money. but you never know.

Okay, thanks. What's the maximum you think I would have to spend to get it to run high 13's?
Edit: I think I've kind of portrayed the wrong image of what I'm going to be doing. I'm first going to be getting the car and eventually I'll modify it. For a while, it will be stock. So, I'm wondering, how much money would it take to get it to run 13's RELIABLY? An estimate would be much appreciated. Thank you and I hope this cleared some stuff up.

Havnt got a clue, it entirely depends on who you buy from, how much they are willing to sell the parts on for, condition, all I can suggest is set your budget to what you can afford and stick to it. Do one thing at a time and run it for a while, it might steer you in a different direction to what you origionally intended, start with an air intake, boost guage and fuel filter replacement. then go from there. good luck. Oh and get the best all-trac you can afford, cheap ones often turn out to be money pits.
