Ok... I have a problem. My brother broke his shifter fork the other day. So... He decides to take my car to slowboy to get a new one. He was cruising about 70-75 and all of the sudden he said my tires locked up, unlocked, and locked again. He managed to get the car pulled over. Him and a friend that went looked over the entire car. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing hanging down, no spattered oil, nothing... So they start the car and its running fine, no problems. He went to pull out and the car is making a metallic grinding sound once the clutch is fully engaged. The car has no power and it feels like the clutch is slipping or burnt up or something. The car moves a little but again it feels like a slipping clutch and is making a grinding noise. Were dropping the tranny today to check it out. Anyone know what it can be. I thought it might one of three things. Clutch, flywheel, or a friend suggested it may be something in the transfer case like the output shaft could have snapped. Im not sure at this point and when I get home ill tear it apart. The problems not in the engine or the driveshaft... the noise is coming from the tranny. Any suggestions on what it is? Now neither of us have a car and to make it worse I just ordered a brand new Evo III turbo and ported Evo manifold and itll be in Monday. Figures. Anyhow. PLEASE HELP!

I'm no tranny expert but the grinding noise may be due to a worn out throw out bearing. Mine grinds a little with the clutch fully engaged only. Although i have no slipping clucth symptoms.

There is a recall for the tcase, they sieze and lock all 4 tires. Happened to mine, and many others. Pull the tcase drain plug before dropping the tranny, if ntohing comes out, you've found the problem.

I think i found it... The rear axle is able to be pulled out of the rear differential. Yeah... haha. But would this cause the grinding noise up front?
