I am really getting pissed here, hopefully you all can help. My engine light has come on and off for about 6 mos. I have changed my fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, o2 sensor, egr valve, MAF sensor, vacuum regulator, and still no luck. the car is choppy when idle, and i don't know what to do, can you help??

Is there any stalling? If so, the fuel pump could be suspect.

no stalling at least not enough for me to notice.

You would definitely know if it stalled on you, so that sort of rules out the pump. I would check with your dealer to see if the pump has ever been replaced, if not, then it should be changed under the recall from a year ago. Aside from that, I'm pretty dumbfounded, as all of those things that you mention are usually the causes of this problem. Also, ask about your DPFE sensor, which can also cause this problem. It should also be under extended warrenty.

dpfe sensor? what's this? There was a recall on the fuel pump for 02 focus? Did not know that.

To be absolutely honest, I don't know the exact function of the DPFE, but I know that it stands for Differential Pressure Regulator EGR...and that it has caused this problem for people in the past.
There was a pretty big recall on the pump, and even if yours was changed, you could probably still get a new one, if that is the problem, since there is a warrenty on the new pump. I just had mine changed, and it cleared the stalling and really rought idle problem I was having right up.

i've got 56k miles on my car so the warranty on pretty much everything is done. I will call my local shop to inquire about the fuel pump, thanks!
