Try these steps

1. Place the ignition key in the "ACC" position.
2. Press the button (lg volume knob) and codE will be shown in the display in the upper middle of the instrument panel.
3. Press no. 1 thru no. 4 memory select button (used to change cd tracks) to set the 4 didgit security code.
4. Press the tape or cd button and a beep will be heard. The system is now in operation mode.
5. If the securtiy codes do not match a "1Err" message is shown in the display in the upper middle of the instrument panel. In a few seconds, it will change to "code". Repeat steps mentioned.
6. If a mistake is made during the input of the security code, the anti-theft system will aloow up to three attempts to enter the correct code.
7. The second error is displayed as "2 err", and the third is "3err" and then the display changes to "off". If this should occure the unit will not opperate. Contact an authorized Mitsubishi dealer for assiatance.

Sorry I don't have the car anymore and I can't remember the code I used. You might want to try removing your stereo from the console to see if the code is written on the stereo unit. That's how I found my code. Look for any set of numbers that seem to be written in marker. While you're in there write down your stereo's serial number and any other information you can find(model number, manufacterer, etc.). Usually if you go to a dealership and give them your stereo's serial number they can reset your stereo. They use to do it over the phone but it really depends on the dealership. If all else fails try calling all the local dealerships and see if anyone is willing to reset it for free. Good luck. I hope this helps.
