i have a 93 j30T with 130k, and i bought it with 127k. i just replaced the shocks. i notice the difference (smoother ride). but i still hear and feel a "CLUNK" when i hit a sharp bump.i want to know if it could be my springs, or my control arm bushings. but whatever it is it sounds like metal hitting..has anyone else had this problem?

Check your tension rod bushings for leaks. Both front left and right.

I just purchased a '93 j30t with 118k on it and it made the same noise. I called all around for the tension rods bushings and had no luck. I ended up getting them at the local infiniti dealer for $40 a piece. I replaced them and it solved all the noise problems in the front end.

were the bushing they put in fluid filled bushings? or just solid rubber? i need to do the same thing to mine, noticed it a while back and couldnt ever find where it was coming from...
now to anyone who might know...parts stores dont have anything for the tension rod there but is the strut rod the same thing as the tension arm?? i know there are 50 million names for different parts and everyone calls it something different.

I called every parts store in town and searched the internet for a while. I couldn't find anything. I got mine from the infiniti dealer in town so they are factory parts. I would think that they are liquid filled if that is what the factory part is. I really enjoy driving my J now with the new bushings. It made that much of an improvement. Change both if you are going to do it.
