supercharger question

if supercharging is almost the same as turbo, does it mean you still need one of those snail looking block but instead of connecting it to the exhaust, you connect it to the intake?

there are two kinds of commonly used belt driven superchargers, centrifugal and positive displacement. Centrifugal superchargers use the compressor side of a turbocharger (that snail-looking thing, it's what compresses the air) and hooks on a belt. positive displacement superchargers use a different kind of compressor (most common is roots and screw, they use two screws and compress the air with those) and hook it up to a belt.
