ABS, Slip and TCS light on constantly.

I have all these lights on all the time - dealer tells me its the ABS sensore Rear-Right. Wants to charge me $540 part + labor to do the job, I located part in US for only $132 - Nissan dealership.

Is there other checks that I should do before I buy part? Part cost seems excessive for even Canada - will go US route if onpy way to do.

Also, can;t seem to find a manual online to do the ABS sensor replacement - my Haynes guide skips this area. Thinks dealer should do?

... Haynes guide skips this area. ...

Its nice as that crap skips so often on critical issues. Less errors...

Sensor swap - DIY. Find online manual, see page1 links below.

Thanks for the reply, some helpful stuff but my car is a 2001 and many things have changed. I've gone the ALLDATADIY.COM way, cost me but worth it. Only problem is trying to read/clear these codes - I think that no one knows what the correct pins we should be grounding to get the lights blinking. I'll try Nissan direct - I think I'll fix the problem, but won't be able to clear the lights.

.... but won't be able to clear the lights.

2002 Manual is old?... weell, then "won't be able to clear the lights."

Repeat: "Find online manual, see page1 links below." If u cannot do that, then to the stealer$hip.

Thanks and your right about Stealer$hip. They do a simple scan nd charge $50. I'm sure if I fix the problem, they would still charge $50 to clear the codes. I'd be willing to spend $$ on a scanner, but most cheap $300-400 range only do check engine and not ABS/Air Bags? I would have to spend over a $1000 to get that in a scanner - that's just not feasible. Any suggestions on a decent Scanner that provides most nissan codes? I'm very PC savvy and have check out scantool and consultz tool, but as far as I can tell they don't handle ABS?

No need for scanner. Nissan ECU leds tells all, just like Tranny TCU. Also ABS =just read the code... How?? Just get that 2002 manual or login to autozone.com

Ok, I've read the manual and to read the ABS codes I need to
1) Ground terminal "3" of "Data link connector" with a suitable harness.
2) Turn ignition switch "ON" while grounding terminal "8". Do not depress brake pedal. Do not start engine.

I see no wire on terminal '3" - and everthing I read about the pins on the data link connector it says that no wire attaches to it. Am I just reading the manual incorrectly?

oops: I did also now read that 2002 manual and found only consult tester diags; what page youre referring to? hmm, seems I've given you misinfo. Nowadays nissan wants to keep all info...

(Still there are lots single measurements u may do outside the diag.)

Then fastest way is to go and have the diag done; repair uself if problem found.

I don't have the manuals - I've subscribed to Alldatadiy web site and have access to the on-line version - they have no page number. Even still looks like on 2001 GLE there could be some form of self-diagnosis - manual incorrect or I'm not understanding. In any event I will perform the checks to fix problem and then I'm told I could just disconnect the battery, wait 10 mins and the trouble light would be off? I know I need to reset clock/radio, seems simple way to reset. If problem comes back again - its to the dealer I go.

- Yes u have if u click: links on my web page and all over this forum.

- Batt off =reset.

- Dont let stalership rip u off; youre the boss even if they guard their knowhow. Ask prices beforehand and doont pay for any other thing than u agree beforehand. Demand all used parts (theyre yours) - tell u'll give them to u friend for verification. Then theyre on their toes...
