SMOG/A.I.R. removal

How do i go about removing the smog pump? Will it mess with my car?

i removed mine on my 85 engine while it was out (switching to a 90 body) wasnt very hard just remove the pump then there is a hard line going over the bell housing of the tranny which connects to the other exhaust manifold that might be hard with the engine in. but i am also planning on getting headers so if you stick with the stock manifolds youll just have to plug the air inlets. when mine was running i had them unhooked just by unplugging the wires and it ran fine.

the question is why are you doing it? for hp, your waisting your time, stop tearing up things for no reason. the smog pump is there to help the environment by lowering emissions, and it dosnt hurt performance. Biggest shade tree mechanic mod out there in my opinion.

No, not doing for hp, i figured it wouldn't give an increase anyway. I would like to have an engine bay with practically just motor, i like the way it looks, plus it'll make things easy for me. I'll keep all the things that i take off, it's not like i'm gonna break the stuff off and toss it away.
