I have a 2001 2wd Ram. I have been told that the wheel bearing assembly needs to be replaced. How hard is it to change myself or should I just pay out the $$ and let someone else do it?
Thanks for the replies in advance.

Front bearings on 2wd are pretty easy. You just have to jack up the vehicle, remove the wheel, then remove the bolt holding the hub on. Once you loosen that, you'll see the bearing in the center and be able to remove. Make sure to pack the new bearing full of grease before installing. Reassembly is fairly straightforward, make sure that the hub bolt is tightened to specs.

They are quite easy to do. I would recommend getting either a haynes manual or a chiltons, haynes is preferred because they are only about $15. This will come in handy in the future at some point anyways.

Thanks for the replies but my truck has a hub assembly not the "normal" wheel bearings and unfortunately :disappoin my Haynes book has nothing in it about changing the assembly.
