1997 bLAZER FRONT WHEEL CLICKING

HEY GUYS I HAVE A 1997 BLAZER AND IT SEEMS LIKE THE LEFT FRONT SIDE MAKES A CLICKING NOISE. Its NOT THAT LOUD AND SLOWS DOWN AS AS ACCELERATION DECREASES. ANY IDEAS. I DID READ THE PAST THREADS AND MY BRAKES HAVE THE ANTI RATTLE CLIPS AND ALSO THE BRAKE QUIET AND i LUBRICATED THE SLIDE PINS STILL THE NOISE PERSISTS. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED. yOU GUYS HAVE ALREADY SAVED ME A TON OF MONEY ON PROBLEMS THAT OTHERS COULD NOT FIND AND YOU FELLAS NAILED IT. could it be universal or cv joints no play in wheel bearings.

Mine did that and I thought it was bearings. I could only tell at low speeds with the window open. A few months later I replaced the brake pads and rotors and it did the trick. This may not be your problem though.

sounds like a CV joint to me.
Check your CV boots for tears.

Check your CV boots for tears. I have Changed the brakes twice. Not the rotors they look fine. I also need to have the window down and low speed to hear it. no tears in cv joint boots but I'm starting to think thats what it is. any way to check for sure. I also jacked up front end wiggled the tires no play in the bearings yet but correct me if i'm wrong they are sealed bearings but could be starting to dry up 136000 miles. thanks for the replies looking foward to see some more input. :naughty:

I have this clicking sound on my 97 Blazer that with the window down, sounds like it's coming from the left front wheel.
after checking everything from CV joints to rotors. I found on a previous thread that the sound could be coming from where the front drive shaft enters into the FWD transfer case. The front driveshaft rotates whether 4WD is engaged or not. There is a vacuum switch on the xfer case i'm told that upon failure can sometimes allow partial engagment of the front drive axel. Making a clicking sound (partial engagement of the teeth on the gears)
My Blazer still has this clicking sound. I have not had the time to investigate further, however I do not want to take the chance of engaging FWD until I do so.
Let me know if your problem could be the same as mine.

Got under the truck last night and thats exactly where the sound is comming from . let me know about this vacuum switch.

Got under the truck last night and thats exactly where the sound is comming from . let me know about this vacuum switch. ]Update.[/B] I found a cracked vacuum line cut end off put it back on and clicking noide is gone Yippie. heres the funny part the line that was leaking went to the air intake area under the ductwork. how I found it was I cuold hear a hissing so I pinched each line till it went away and then followed that line. let me know how you make out that sound was very annoying. :grinyes:

Where exactly did you find your leak?
Maybe I'll get lucky and possibly find mine in the same area.

i have looked over alot of forums to find someone who can help me i also have a click just like you
sometimes i also hear this noise like worling from the pass side .......these i find out are connected...
The transfer case vacuum switch i think is whats wrong .But i cant seem to get to it and i dont know what it looks like can anyone tell me

I had an annoying tickity-click that would show up and be heard at slow speeds. (Under 25 MPH) Turned out one of the hubcaps was just slightly loose. I have the small, center hub caps inside of an aluminum wheel. I took the cap off without having to drop the wheel, though it was secure, it would wiggle and shift slightly in its socket. Wrapping a layer of black electrical tape around the mouth of the cap where the tangs engage the wheel did the trick. No more clickity-click!

I recently switch all my brakes on my '99 blazer. Two days later, I heard some clicking when i'd lightly brake. And it was all coming from the drivers side wheel. So i took it all apart again. Checked it out. made sure all my grease zerts were lubed, greases the caliper. Only thing i didnt really like is on the back of the brake pads, is a thin piece of metal, which can be lifted up if you stick your finger nail under it along the edge. Seems like something that would not only prolly cause problems, but prolly could the the source for noise. So I reapplied the blue gunk to quiet nnoises to the metal back of the brake pad again, and also slipped some under that thin metal sheet too. I replaced everything, made sure it was all tight. And After taking it out for a spin. It all seemed well. Until today, i can here a slight ticking up front, but i can here it when I'm driving. It goes away when I brake.
I've sat here and read through this forum and seen alot of issues with brakes, and s-10s in general. :banghead:What is the deal? do a simple brake job and everything falls apart like pulling a stick out of the jenga game? I've been doing my own car repairs for 10 years now. So I consider myself to be a little auto savvy. And now with this annoying ticking, and the fact gas prices are sky-rocketing. I'm ready to sell my blazer, and get rid of my payment on it and buy an old chevy pickup. Btw,my gas guage has never worked since i bought the vehicle 1.5 yrs ago. Which that could be the fuel pump, or the sender, I havnt took the time to mess with it yet.And my cat is rattling so i have to replace that, and its due for a spark plug/wires/distributor cap tune up. Which I'd rather take a bath in boiling oil than change spark plugs in the blazer. Just frustrating. I like the blazer. Its smooth, a good ride, and a sharp looking rig, but geez.. Am I gonna start having things go wrong with it on a regular basis now that it has over 100,000 miles on it?
