a/c question

My a/c went out at the end of last summer after the compressor locked up on me. I replaced the compressor but now I'm having a little different problem. The a/c seemed to work fine (until today) as long as I was moving. The second I came to a stop, I got nothing but warm air. This afternoon, the a/c was off and on, almost like it has a short in the switch or something. I'll check that out tomorrow, but when the compressor would actually kick on, I still got cold air (as long as I was moving). Anyone have an idea what would cause the a/c to blow warm air while I'm sitting still? Someone suggested it might be the condensor?

Had same problem last year. Try replacing the fan clutch. Mine went bad and as long as i was moving everthing was fine but when I stopped I got no air. Fan clutch stopped turning the fan so the fan could push no air. Fix my problem. Hope it helps you. Good luck.

Hum, I hadn't thought about that. If the clutch is bad, would the fan stop turning completely or just slow down enough to make the difference?

I carry my dogs around a lot and their hair had plugged the A/C evaporator. The compressor would cycle a lot due to lack of air flow, the low temp thermostat was taking it out. Opened a small cover & washed with a hose & nozzle(not a lot of water), which drained out of the drain. good luck!

Had same problem when I purchased my 94 from the previous owner. Turns out my compressor clutch was engaging and disengaging due to an excessive gap between the clutch and magnet. Removed compressor and had shims removed. Also replaced dryer & expansion valve. Problem solved.
