Ok I got my car checked out by carfax, it came out clean, now carchex did an inspection, its a 1993 Mazda rx-7 with 58,000 miles on it. And here are the results.
"Inspector's Additional Comments:
The engine was willing to start, but didn't start, most probably was out of gas. The seller was not really willing to put some gas. I thinks this car has some kind of electric problem, maybe with fuel delivery system, fuel pump, fuel pump relais, or something like this. The local repair shop didn't find the cause of the problem. Please do not forget that this car has a rotary engine, which has nothing in common with regular piston engine, and this complicates the things even more. This car needs a thorough checkup of the whole electric system, all sensors and computers and for obvious reasons I canoot do this. This engine cannot run "rich" or "poor", it's a computer controlled engine. The right flank, or at least the right door, seems to be repainted, the interior, seats and carpet are nice and clean. Headlights open and close. "
Ok, would this be hard to fix? and how costly would it be? Is the fact that I bought this rx7 for 8000 factor in?

does it run?
probably flooded if anything (though usually not a problem associated with 3rd gens).

Yes, the car runs, but shuts down at idle.

put some gas in it.
when you start it can you keep it running by staying on the gas?
you may want to get a compression test and change the spark plugs. how is the exterior and the rest of the chassis? thas whats imnportant. Honestly though, you may spend more than what you paid for to get it running right (but will likely be upgraded).

Yah, honestly the car is in mint condition, paint and everything is fine, I just can't really pinpoint what is wrong with it.
Would I be able to buy an engine rebuild from rotary aviation? I have set aside around 5 grand to help with maintenance.

well depeding on your area it may or may not be easy to find a builder. rotary aviation has a good reputation though.
5 grand should be enough for a rebuild/ streetport and maybe the supporting mods. where do ou live?
