I am a 69 camaro with a 307 ci engine. I rebuiilt the Holley 4160 carb not to long ago. I ran great and idled well. I let the car sit for 3 weeks. I started it and 1) it seemed like the choke want closed and then it wouldnt idle at all.
A week later and I have gotten it to idle OK although not like it was before I let it sit and I still dont think the choke is working because I dont think that the fast idle cam is engaging. Now today's problem...
when I rev the car to 3500+ rpms and let it drop back to idle, it either idles really rough and then goes back to a normal idle or the car dies. I was coming to a stop sign today and all of the sudden the brakes and the steering got hard. The motor died. I fired it back up and continued home.
Any ideas?

I've had a similar problem with a 750 dbl pump. My problem was the bowl screws. Make sure they are torqued to at least 40 in. lbs. Holley calls for 50 but this can sometimes distort the main body, which brings up another thought. Next time you take the carb apart, make sure the gasket surfaces on the body :grinyes: are flat. If not you can straighten them with a file. Good Luck.
