Seat Belt Dash Warning Light

The seat belt warning light on the dash of my 95 Wrangler will not go out, even though the seat belt is latched. The warning buzzer does stop when the belt is latched and comes on when unlatched, as it should.
Should be a single switch in the belt locking mechanism controlling both of these, so the problem must be somewhere else. Am I wrong with this train of thought? And are there any suggestions about what might be the place to start looking? This problem just started after working correctly since it was new.

check the connection at the floor where the seat belt gets plugged in under the carpet.
