C5 vette vs supercharged mustang gt

well, we didnt actually get to race, but i'll tell you the story.
my dad let me take the vette out today so i went out looking for a run, or just some fun. i end up in a parking lot by myself doing donuts and burnouts.
well, its time to go home and i take the long route cause i was in hope to run into something. and at the light i see a mustang coming from behind. light turns green and i drive as normal, the mustang pushes itself in front of me, and i hear the sweetest sound of a supercharger i have ever heard, it was the 99-04 model. i hit the gas a little and get myself in front of the stang hoping he'd bite, but he didnt. once i get on the side of him, i see its an old old white guy, looked about 65, he had about 3-4 aftermarket gauges in there, this was a bad ass old man!
we swerve through traffic and by the way he's driving looks like i might get a run.
we end up at a light again and i roll down my window.

me: is that supercharger i hear?
him: (turns down his music) whats that?
me: that a supercharger i hear
him: yea
me: sounds sweet
him: thanks

light is red and i'm thinking, will this old man run it?
light turns green and i start off normal, i hear his car get on it, so i punch it and he jumps not even half a car in front of me. it feels like i'm about to catch up and then some IDIOT!! jumps in front of me, i had to slam on the brakes. traffic at that point pretty much tied is up and there was nothing i could do.

i tell ya i've heard my share of supercharers, but that thing sounded sweeeeet!!!

Good story too. I love the sound of SC's. I get the jitters everytime I hear one. It really was too bad you didn't get to go balls out with guy though.

A C5 is no joke, as you know.. you were driving. Interesting to know if you think his car was any faster than yours?

No it was recovered a few weeks after I believe. He made a post on it. Maybe I can find it, or unless he feels like it, he'll post it.

I wish my dad had a C5, and I had a Vr4, and I was a handsome rich young famous guy like Youngvr4 is

and yeah superchargers little whine is amazing to hear, and very few ppl know what that means...i guarentee the ricers dont know that sound...

yeah my dad got his car back maybe 2 months ago

as stated above they found it about 2 weeks later and it was in bad shape. everything is fixed exept the guy did a horrible job on the paint, and my dads sending it back to the guy, cause there are bubbles appearing in the paint now and black marks from were the paint came off already.

do i think i would have taken him? i honestly couldnt tell, it felt very strong, and just from the quick burst we had, though it kinda felt like i would have pulled on him, its hard to tell with such a small distance. i've thought i was gonna win races before and ended up loosing in the long run.
i remember seeing beefed up 99-04 mustang gt's at the track and they were running mid 12's
who knows all what this guy had, i could have been foolin around with an 11 second car.

Supercharged late model GTs are usually pretty damn fast. I know what you mean about the supercharge whine, I have a video of an 03 cobra doing a top end run and it gets up there so fast and that supercharger is just screaming. For the money, I have been looking at it and its really the smartest way to make power in the modular engines.
