Alternator problems

I have a 96 GT 3.1L 110,000 km And I have had to replace the alternator twice in 3 months.....

Is this a common problem, anyone else having trouble?
Any ideas as to what the hell is goin on?

You could have a leak or something to the extent that is letting too much water into your alternator. Do you have weatherstripping on the back of your engine compartment that could be bad? Do you wash the engine at the carwash? Water is a common cause of alternator problems. The coils don't like being hit with large amounts of water.
