I need some help with a radio that I sold to a person. I sold a radio out of my 2004 Chevy silverado LS to a person who needed one. They installed everything and when you turn the radio on a message appears on the screen that says LOCKED. I dont know what to tell the person. Is there anything that they can do or can you not swap out factory radios. please help thanks you.

check in your book and read the theftlock part. i am pretty sure in the 2003 and newer style radios you can only use it in the vehicle it was put it. somehow it knows when it changes cars and will not operate at all. a stealership might be able to clear it for a price .

i am pretty sure that the radio will only work in the first car it is put in on the new style cars and trucks. anything with the double din radio. you might want to read the theftlock section in your manual to be sure. i think it remembers something from the computer a code or something and only works with that. hope this helps

Here is the procedure to unlock your radio. It has been confirmed to work by several people. Thanks.
