I have a 97 Jimmy where the fuel pump failed. I have a replacement pump for the actual pump, but when i disconnected the fuel pump from the fuel lines, 2 of the 3 plastic connections broke. Would a rubber fuel line and hose clamps work to fix the fuel lines where they broke. Or do I need to replace the whole fuel pump assembly.

Replace the assembly...rubber hoses and hose clamps won't hold up to the fuel pressure...

Correct. Rubber hoses can't handle the pressure. You need a new sending unit. Don't do stuff half assed or you will regret it later.

I replaced the fuel pump and the truck started fine and drove about 15 miles and then it started surging. It dies about 2 minutes later. I repaced the fuel filter and no change. When it dies, if I wait about 1-2 minutes and restart the truck it runs for about 2-5 minutes for dying again. Any and all help would be appreciated.
