1987 mustang gt with 5 speed

found bad ground to chassis, fixed that.replaced starter and solenoid, terminal connectors, plugs, wires, tec.fuel pumps kicks on when key is on.wont start still after it gets warm.when cold, starts right up and runs until shutting her down.then wont start again, will start and run when pushstarted though.any suggestions,i have checked the ground to the firewall, which is good too.has a ground to the water pump,is that maybe it.should it be on a header bolt or something.

its a comon problem on odler chevys, the starter is probably getting hot, especially if you have headers, try rigging some kind of heat shield, see if that helps, thats my best guess from what you say anyways

well thanks,i traked it down to about evry ground under the hood being bad.the switch over cable to the starter was also burn with bare corroded wire exposed.so i changed all my grounds, seem s to be good now.of course after all that...i decided to adjust my timing and forgot to pull out the dummy plug.lol,i spent about 3 hours tring to time it back so it would even start.realized that there was no reason it shouldnt at least start cause timing was correct.found out that ignition control module went bad in the process and wasnt allowing gas into the combustion chamber.wow, what a hoot.thanks for the reply....after the neiboors wake up,ill try her out.

Yup, I was going to say it sounds like the famous TFI module on the distributor, but you already found it.

replaced tfi module, still the same, pump kicks on and relay kicks on...inertia switch good too.runs when cools, when shut off it just cranks and cranks fast until battery dies.wait till cold again and with jump usually starts after awhile.
