Hi,

I'm trying to change the automatic transimission filter in my 93 4runner (3.0L V6). I have drained all of the fluid and removed the, what seemed like 85, bolts holding the pan up.
Unfortunately, nothing is moving. I can't seem to get the pan off to get at the filter. Am I missing something? Any suggestions would be helpfull.

Thanks in advance,

Neil.

Do I need to remove the filler tube? If so how and where do I detach it?

Thanks again.
Neil

It may separate into two halves, upper and lower. Also, might be the sealant holding the pan on to the tranny case.

I have been told that you don't have to replace the transmission filter. It is only a screen to prevent large particles from getting into the pump and valve body.

How do you get the sealant off?

Get a long scraper or flat-head screwdriver and carefully pry it off. On my 2000 4runner I was told at the dealer parts department that I didn't need to replace the filter. Mine had 100,000 miles on it and their was nothing in the screen.

When I change mine out on my 92 I had to remove the crossmember to get the pan to drop all the way out.
